autumn
it’s a slow morning here in our little trailer park. i can here traffic pass outside and airplanes making their way now and then to the local airport and sometimes a dog bark or a bird sing but mostly it is quiet and i am working my best to keep it that way as hubby is getting to sleep in, a rare and priceless opportunity. the toddler is happy with his snazzy new full size pillow and his blanket and this morning i am letting him have his milk in bed. baby is so happy to play with the pillow or her fingers or feet just on this sofa here beside me. at present she seems baffled by the little pillow on her head and i can see her peeking out at me and smiling a slightly troubled smile. my sister is working from her bedroom/office and the dog has been let out so no yelping from him. mostly there is the sound of passing cars and i hope that hubby sleeps well for as long as possible. funny, as i type a cat and dog (a big dog i think) are making a ruckus, my sister has come out and is rather chatty and the dog, the same.
with the coming of autumn comes my need to sneeze twenty times in a row and there is now the need for sweaters in the morning and hot drinks and a lot of tissue for my runny nose but i am happy for autumn to come because it means change, and my favorite kinds of change la. peace and grease peeps.
tacho’s house
Tacho had a garden with all sorts of vegetables. There was green chili and tomatoes and carrots i think – it is hard to remember now, that was so many years ago. It was a large garden and I remember he would send mom home with bags of green chili and tomatoes. I wish that I could remember what else he grew there because if I could I would do my damnedest to emulate that garden of his in some yard here. There were nut and fruit trees as well and bags of apricots and pecans. I remember my aunt teaching me how to open walnuts and how to crack pecans in our hands. There was green grass everywhere and trees that dropped their leaves to blanket the ground in the fall and a creek that ran past the front yard. I loved those yards especially in the summer months when I would wake up in the front room in the cool morning air and hear the water bubbling by and the birds singing in the tall strange desert trees.
oh september
there was a familiar scent in the air yesterday afternoon, the air was cool but the sun was high and bright. the windows were open and i had to pull out a blanket. it was so lovely. it felt like i remember it feeling around the the holidays or just at the door. this time of year is my favorite i think.
soon the leaves will be turning and the mountains will take on another face altogether. i love the fall. soon we will have to pull out our heavy things, scarves and sweaters and thick socks as winter will be coming along.
i searched for pictures of last november but to no avail. there was snow soon after we arrived but i guess we did not take any pictures until early december…this was beneath the upstairs deck where the snow drifted in and covered the cement and tables and the little birds would come to frolic.
