two friends

Two Friends

“There is no plan besides this one Jack. No other options. We either do this or we die.” Marshal had always been an all-or-nothing sort of guy, but Jack had no idea just what that meant until today.
There was a strange pause between the two friends, silent, eerie, far too long to be any kind of comfortable. Finally, Marshal blinked, shook his head and slapped Jack on the shoulder, “No worries mate” He said. “We can try again tomorrow.” Then he took two steps, as though it were the most natural thing in the world, and went right over the edge of the cliff.

There was no warning, no signal, just a smile and two steps. Jack had not even enough time to reach for Marshals hand, or arm. It was too crazy to have been real. It had to be a trick, a cartoon moment, something other that what it was. There was a sudden ringing in the ears, a metallic taste in the mouth and a sort of snap somewhere deep inside jacks mind when suddenly…

To be continued

thin walls

Suddenly I am scared of the ink that may or may not be on my face
letters and words backwards and disconnected

I can still hear the screaming
I dreamt of the child crying
although he had long since ceased to cry

my head and ears had taken in his cries and refused to let them quiet
even as I slept

wishing only for silence

funny how in the morning he is a different child altogether
sweet
smiling
happy
not at all the endless torture I remember him to be in the night
when his mother cannot seem to console him
and I wish only for darkness and much thicker walls

to be clear- this is merely a vent- I am amused
red-eyed and tired
not angry
just needed someplace to whine-
:)
